There is one thing everyone wants from a diet. To lose pounds, but not starve themselves out.

Well, what if I tell you there is a way to do just that?

Now, I’ve tried my fair share of diets, and some work, some do not work.

It is worth noting that some diets are just not cut for everyone, as we are all different people, different metabolism, blood type and so on.

However, I can certainly say that this diet is one that can help you lose 10 pounds, in just one week.

And the best part is, you do not need to starve yourself to get the results you want.

What about breakfast?

Let’s start with the breakfast, which is the most important meal of the day.

Before you even start thinking about breakfast, I recommend squeezing one fresh lemon into a glass of cold water.

Drink it on an empty stomach to purify and detox your body from toxins and also kickstart your metabolism.

Now, half an hour after you’ve drunk the glass of water, it is time to think about breakfast.

What you want are fruits. Now everyone who tells you can eat fruits through the whole day is not being honest with you.

The truth is, the best time to eat fruits is in the morning when the sugars from fruits are distributed nicely through our body.

You can take two oranges, two apples, a large grapefruit, two pears, or anything similar.

Add a handful of hazelnuts, almonds or nuts to your breakfast.

This way, you are getting sugars to give you energy for the day, but also proteins and healthy nutrients that will satisfy your need for hunger.

Tips for breakfast

  • If you need to leave home, prepare a fruit salad in the evening, and grab it on your way out of the door
  • Always drink a drink in the morning to ensure you start your day hydrated
  • Being that the week can be hectic, allow yourself to indulge in lazy weekend breakfasts. Think of them as a more leisurely option

Lunch, the most underrated meal

For your lunch, you can get a slice of meat, be it cooked veal or cooked chicken.

The trick is to avoid bread during your lunch and get two cups of sour milk or yogurt with your lunch.

Limit your side dish, and avoid creamy salads during lunch.

You can get few veggies as a side dish for your slice of meat.

Few hours after your lunch, it is time for a snack.

But instead of going all chips and chocolate for your snack, make a fresh season salad, add just a pinch of salt and some olive oil and you are set.

Healthy Lunch Ideas

Here are some ideas that will help you get a healthy lunch during your one week diet, and provide some variety

  • Cottage Cheese and Tomato Sandwich, with a ¼ avocado in there
  • Tuna wrap, instead of mayo use mashed avocado, and drink a glass of Greek yogurt for some extra protein
  • Turkey wrap with hummus, goat cheese, and baby spinach
  • Mediterranean burger made with feta cheese, tomato slices, round slices of red onion, spinach, and beef
  • Grilled cheese with tomato and turkey sandwich, a healthy version of the grilled cheese. Do not add butter
  • Chicken and rice stir-fry, but make sure to use brown rice, which is richer in fiber and protein

Finish the day strong

Dinner is your last meal.

The important notice here is that you want to consume your dinner before 6 pm.

Your dinner menu is two hard boiled eggs, green salad or cucumber salad with olive oil.

Now, the hard part is how to survive after 6 pm until you go to bed.

This is where your determination comes in place.

However, since your menu before 6 pm consists of proteins and healthy nutrients, you should be fine.

Prepare green tea, one liter of water with 4 bags of green tea, and drink it before bedtime.

Now, you do not want to drink the whole liter before bedtime.

Instead, dose your tea between 6 pm and your bedtime.

How long will you stick to the diet is completely your choice.

However, I must note that it is recommended to practice the diet for 10 days the most.

One week is ideal, and you should lose approximately 10 pounds during that timeframe.

How to survive a diet?

Surviving a diet, even one that lasts for only a week is hard.

Anyone who has ever tried any diet will tell you that.

But the good news is there are tips that will help you get through.

For starters, set up an end date.

Do not set up an end goal, because that might put extra pressure and stress on you.

Being that this diet lasts for just one week, it is easy to set up an end date.

The only thing you need to decide is whether you go from Monday to Monday, or something else.

Restricting calories is hard, and the simplest and best way to get through is eating a lot of salads.

As mentioned previously, avoid creamy salads, but you can get a lot of low-calorie greens.

Variety is a key here.

Many of us fall into the trap of finding one great low-calorie meal, and eat it for seven days a week.

Well, that gets old fast, even though it is just one week.

You can get variety just by changing the way you cook the food.

For example, go for steamed one day, and roasted the next day.

You’ll notice it is a completely different dish.

One thing to pay attention is how you eat.

When you are on a diet, you want to eat slowly, because it results in greater sense of fullness, which in turn reduces the intensity of hunger cravings.

Snack strategically, and have a 100 calorie snack always with you.

Another way to beat hunger during the diet is to stay hydrated.

One glass of water on every hour is a great way to stay hydrated through the day.

  1. I like the idea….I just wish they made it reasonable for people who don’t sleep at night because they work at night. Not eating anything after 6 p.m. when I’ve just woken up 3 hours beforehand is not reasonable or feasible. My eating habits are completely different than mainstream America.

    • Same here Im a security officer and work overnight shifts….11pm to 7am..its hard to find a workout and eating schedule with my hours…..

      • Youdo your diet the same way except you stop eating at an easier time during the night and there is a wonderful exercise regimen for those who are in an office setting…I also am a security guard and I do my chair exercises. Just type in exercises for people who work in office

            I just ordered garcinia cambogia capsules. I’m hoping they work and I didn’t just waste my money! But – when African Mango was the fad I did try those. And I lost 15 lbs in 4 weeks with diet and exercise as well. It’s really all about portion control!

      • For those that work nights when uou wake up is your morning start and you do everything in the exact same order instead of awaking for work at 6 am you are 6 pm. If it make it simplified starts this before you start your work day…. weither 6 am or 6 pm, 12 am or 12pm

    • I work nights 2 so this is how u can do it just start ur day the same way, when u wake up n don’t eat 4 hours b4 u go to bed 4 the day.

    • Since you’re up all night ,plan your eating time around your work schedule .so when you wake up at 3pm, have your breakfast. The main thing is do not eat and go to sleep. Plan your sleep and wake time. If you plan to go back to bed after 3pm, just make sure you eat 2 hours before that . you have to be determined to do this. I work nights if you have breakfast at 3p, then lunch should be about 6pm.You can take a nap between 830pm until about 10pm depending on how close you live to your work. Then you take your dinner with you. I try to eat something small between 5am and 6am,so that I don’t worry about food when I get home. Maybe like yogurt. Good luck!

    • I had to deal with this issue myself. I just go by when I wake up and go to sleep. Just go by what time your day starts and ends.

    • This diet would be perfect for you! If I had to drink after 6 PM, one liter of green tea, which has the highest concentration of caffeine (also a diuretic) of all teas, I’d be up for no less than 12 hours with a bathroom break or two in between! For this reason alone, this diet would not work for me. Yes, there are decaffeinated green teas on the market but the methods used to extract the caffeine can leave toxic residues.

          • Green tea has caffeine. Who ever said that it don’t is complety wrong. There are many teas that contain caffeine. Before buying it make sure to buy the one that has no caffeine. Ex: camomile, jinger, lemon, sleepy time by celestial. Also stay away from the decaffeinated.

          • Black tea certainly DOES have caffeine in it. I have drank iced tea at dinner…maybe 2 glasses, and it kept me awake that night. Tea doesn’t contain as much caffeine as most strong-brewed coffees, but it does contain caffeine. Only HERBAL teas (that indicate this in writing) do not contain caffeine. Green tea, black tea, even orange pekoe tea…all have caffeine in them.

    • Why not reverse the times then, have your ‘breakfast’ at whatever time you wake up and take it from there to make it suit your routine

    • Are you serious? Just do the diet from whatever time you wake up and subtract 4 hours from whatever time you do to bed. Don’t eat after that time, 4 hours you go to bed. And drink green tea for those 4 hours.

    • Do it backwards! Do the lemon water when you first wake up and then your fruit and nuts after that so you eat your dinner while you’re at work

    • Obviously you need to adjust the times if you work at night!!! Just use the info for whenever you eat your breakfast, lunch and dinner. but I’d bet money that no one can lose 10 pounds in a week, that part is a scam.

    • Eat raw nuts, especially Almonds because they satisfy hunger and aid in balancing your blood sugar levels. Apples are also great satisfying food, an excellent source of fiber which will make yfeel full plus they contain pectin which will help prevent blood sugar level spikes.

    • I believe the point is to give your metabolism a rest before bed and not have your body work double time to process food while you sleep. Why not try reversing the process to fit your schedule. Start with your breakfast when you wake up, and continue on, ending with the tea closest to you when you go to bed which I’m assuming is sometime during the day.

    • It makes sense to me to do the reverse think of it like when you wake eat your breakfast then your snack lunch, dinner most people just guessing but I think an average of 4hours before there bedtime drink the tea then

    • You can do the same thing but start your breakfast when you wake up at 4 or what ever time before you go to work at 6pm though the night. Meaning you would have to drink the tea at like 4 in the morning or whenever you come home from work in the morning. Your morning is now your night time so you can do the same thing but in the different hour/timeslot they provided for you

    • I would just adjust it to your time. I would say your 6pm would be three to four hours before you go to bed. The point is not eating too close to when you sleep, because you are not active during that time. And have your lemon water when you get up at 3:00, and so forth.

    • When you work night shift you have to treat your night as if it were your morning so essentially when you wake up you want to treat that first hour of the day like you’re having breakfast and then go about your day or night in your case as following so when they say 6 p.m. essentially you want to stop eating about 3 hours before your bedtime so if you go to bed at 9 or 10 a.m. you would want to stop by 6 a.m.r

    • Just turn it completely around & do your breakfast after you wake up & continue your diet thru the night til your bedtime in the morning it should work the same way it did for me when I used to work night shift as correctional officer at a prison 11-7 I went to bed about 8am & woke up around 3-4pm

    • JUst do the diet like the people during the day—your night hours are switched is all—you are treating this diet like you are doing it in the daytime, your night schedule is your daytime-Good luck—–I have been doing this diet and I lose anywhere from 1 to 1.5 pounds per day…I weigh in the mornings right when I get up in lightweight PJ clothes…I have not had any success with diets working till this one…It is worth the go everyone…I have lost 20 pounds in less than a month and it is staying off..The lemon water is the key to get your system going.BUt make sure to take a break from it for a week or so then go back on,lots easier when you do that because for a week as long as you watch yourself you will maintain,then go back on and another 2 weeks another 20…I do not exercise all the time either and still coming off..

  2. Not recommended. Green tea is toxic caffeine and will keep you all night. Not enough nutrition and you will gain it all back and then some! Starving yourself is not the answer. Your body needs proper nutrition! You will only keep off what you make a lifestyle .. A healthy lifestyle!

      • There is decaf green tea. I just bought 2 tins of green tea at Whole foods, Republic of Tea, one is decaf for evenings and the other is regular tea. I would like to try this diet as I have little to lose and it is real hard to lose a bit, but I can’t give up my coffee/tea in the morning.

    • I was also thinking that. My dietitian, and every health and fitness professional I have EVER talked to, say that anything more than 1 or 2 lbs per week is not good for you. It’s within the realm of a crash diet, which will not be successful. You’ll spend the entire time hungry!

Although the levels of caffeine in an average cup ofvgreen tea (around 20 milligrams, some contain about 12milligrams)) are far less than coffee (around 100 milligrams) or black tea (around 55 milligrams). It is full of good antioxidants and a lot of health specialists recommended it. However the “toxic” part you may be referring to could be the fact that some green tea sourced from China could contain lead.

    • How about matcha green tea, as it is more pure than regular green tea. I drink this in the evening and have no problem sleeping. As for this being a crash diet, I would like to think of this as a start to your weight loss program for one week. It is leaving out the bad carbs which cause bloating and turn to sugar. It isn’t like you have to stay on this program forever. One week of this is a jumpstart.

      • One cup of Matcha tea has more caffeine than 8 cups of coffee put together… at least the very expensive kind my friend bought me from the mall store “Teavana”. Seriously, those little sample cups they fill a quarter full ( only if you’re very interested in buying it that is) well she had 4 of them… and i had to peel her of the walls from the rest of the mall. I had 2 cups and my heart was In my throat. So i hope you’re talking about a store brand decafe… but, then what’s the point…Matcha is known and used for it’s super jolt. Of course, i remember in my youth i could drink 4 shots of espresso in bed before i went to sleep. It’s all in what you’re accustomed too i suppose. Now , i just drink hot water. Ladies, look up the 10 or 12 benefits of drinking hot water…. Its amazing! Personally, i just asked to be delivered from my depression over my out of control eating. So, two days later i cut out eating: sugar (white refined) salt, carbonation, fruit, dairy, gluten….. After the first seven days of loading up on one day fruits, 2nd day green veggies, 3rd day both, 4th day bananas and lactaid 1% milk, 5th lean meat and veggies, 6 th day fruit and veggies. Then 7 th day began my new way of eating … the no sugar, salt, carbonation, dairy, fruit, gluten. And In 4 months i lost 58 pounds … but the kicker was – I’ve never felt better. No gas, no bloating, no heart burn, slept perfectly for first time I years, happy, clear headed, everything about me changed. The weight loss at this point was a bonus. truly. Now, 1.5 years later im still at the sane weight loss.. because it was permanent. And i periodically have all those things i eliminated. Within reason. Remember GLUTEN is responsible for inflammation In your body… so when you eliminate gluten, you feel so much better and you practically get rid of the ibuprofens , etc for inflammation and pain.     • Limit your calories to what maintained your weight before pregnancy. Breastfeeding burns 300-500 calories per day. Drink fluids to thirst. You should lose weight!.

  5. The reason you’re going to lose 10 pounds in a week with this is because you will basically be starving your body. You need many more calories each day than this is going to provide you with, ESPECIALLY if you are going to be exercising too! Losing ten whole pounds in a single week is not healthy for your body, and going from an average diet straight into this one is not going to make you feel very good. Also, your body needs carbs, and the best time to consume them is before dinner—or at lunch time—when you still have many hours to be awake and active. A small sandwich is a great lunch option, or adding some quinoa or brown rice to the suggestion here! This diet is great in that all the foods offered are healthy! But, they need to be supplemented with more. Getting in shape isn’t about doing it fast, it’s about doing it right! 🙂

        • I’m not starving and I plugged in everything for the day, plus my multi vitamin and I am 20 calories under my recommended 1400 / Day for weight loss at 1.5lbs/week. It eliminates garbage foods, and focuses on clean eating. My lunch as recommended was 500 calories! I couldn’t handle it all, I was full!! I added in a snack of a granola bar, at 4pm, and a mid morning clementine because I do prefer 5 small meals. But the total calories in a day is the same as what he recommends. I wish the yogurt was more specific, (Greek V regular, plain V flavored) and meat, mentions veal or chicken, but not how much. It’s easy to tailor to your needs. I divide the yogurt into two servings and have that last 1/3 of it with my dinner and raw veggies at 5pm and have my eggs at 6pm.

          And I do two parts green tea and 2 parts peach tea. 🙂 I’m not starving. I am paying attention to what I am eating and not eating while watching TV. I’m on day two and feel great. Fingers crossed I drop the 5lbs I want to in 8 days.

    • I agree, your body is going to store every ounce of fat you take in (during & after) as a natural defense against starvation!
      I have a fresh squeezed lime mixed with a 1/4tsp of Pink Himalayan salt to start my day. There’s 89 minerals in the ph salt that your body need, this mixture (consumed within 20 mins.) will alkalis your body, giving you energy, detoxing your adrenals and tell your kidneys to stop holding on too the excess water! Besides that I eat 75% clean. I’ve seen improvements in my overall health that stretches far beyond the pounds!

      • Respectfully disagree. This “diet” will kickstart your starvation hormones which after 72 hours of caloric restriction will slow down your metabolism. Once you go off it, expect to gain back all the weight you lost, plus about 2-3 pounds. Which will be MUCH harder to get rid of because now your metabolism is slower. So you go back on a similar type diet, lose a few pounds, but kickstart your starvation hormones again, which further slows down your metabolism, so again you gain back the weight and a few pounds besides, etc etc etc. Classic yoyo dieting. I would not be on a diet like this for more than 2-3 days if you really really really think you should follow it.

        We have “diet” all wrong. Diet in North America is “follow a weird food plan for a short period of time so I can lose the 10 pounds I want to lose so I look hot in the dress I bought for the party.” If you look at the root of the word Diet, it’s actually something like “way of living (eating).” Which this “diet” is definitely not. Even the author says not to stay on it for more than 10 days.

  6. How big of a glass of water are we suppose to use? I did a whole lemon in 32oz. water and it was so strong, it was barely drinkable. And also what size salads are we supposed to eat?

    • eggs? I don’t eat meat either, but I find ways to substitute. Just google proteins and chose what you like. I am not crazy about eggs and usually do not eat animal products, but you gotta eat something. Also seeds on UR salad

    • I think it means drink the liter between 6pm and bed time. But dont leave it all till 10mins before sleeping. Probably helps you to not snack. ☺

      • Decaff is not a good choice. You can have lemon balm tea, lemon tea, melissa officialis tea, sleepy time tea by celestial, anise tea, peppermint tea, etc. Stay away from caffeine or decaffeinated drinks.

    I am going to try it.
    I think we should use some common sense. The tea, you can drink it between 6:00 p.m. to before you go to bed. It’s just one liter, and there is in the market decaffeinated green tea. If you are lactose tolerant, drink something that you can drink, there are some alternatives.

  9. 2 cups of yogurt? Is this supposed to be like 2 prepackaged small cups or 2 measured cups of yogurt? 2 measured cups seems like a lot.

  10. This seems like a good idea in theory but as a girl who works out five times a week and who is Hypoglycemic this would not get me through the day. However I might try the Lemon water trick.

    • Agreed! This is not enough if you work out too. I also have hypoglycemia. My nutritionist highly recommended the lemon water though! 🙂

  11. Hi again, Well, I have been doing the diet with some variations, plus a latin party with all the delicious food, besides some little bites of this and that. I lost 21/2 lb in a week!
    So I can say that with a little bit of more effort and determination I can do it!

  12. The SLOW way is the BEST WAY because the weight will stay off.
    It’s been a long road but I dropped 3 sizes since january and when I am overeating, even for a week or so, I don’t gain much weight. That’s because.. I eat!
    I don’t have a plan. Fuck plans. They take over your life. I was thinking all day: I cant eat this, I can have one of that, I cant have more. Eventually after 6 weeks I went back in the old habit and gained alot and the weight was worse then ever. I was obese (first stage) and had trouble sleeping, pain during walking and felt hurt when I saw my reflection.

    Believe me you neeeeed to eat!!! to lose weight. Enjoy your lasagne, enjoy your pizza! But keep things in balance and enjoy food. Try to chew more, drink a glass of water before you eat. And.. full=full. When Im hungry at night I still eat.
    Don’t eat tooo much and no pizza everyday (I wish it was healthy).
    Believe me girls. Slow is the best way. Ive been struggling with my weight for 12 years. Tried alot of diets and they all don’t work..
    Yes you will look slimmer, but when you go back to old eating habits (I mean c’mon you don’t want to eat so little for life) you will gain so easily and so much.. and you take a few steps back to reach your goal. To add that.. because you swing sizes your skin will getting less elastic. I had beautiful breasts and now they’re teabags.

    Food is my biggest addiction. Worse addiction ever. So if you are overeating, visit a psychologist. Find out the source of your eating habit. Find out what truly would made you happy.
    When you feel like munchies get something you like to eat but isn’t junkfood. Junkfood=food you don’t need to prepare.
    So egg on bread, soup, boiled egg, chicken, salad, whatever. Don’t feel quilty.. I mean.. you feel better during eating and you haven’t eaten much. You ate pretty healthy

    I used to think really negative thoughts like.. When I have slimmed down, I will have friends, I will smile, I will enjoy life. My life would begin.
    Also if you hate sports, go walking or cycling. Take some music with ya or look for a nice place to sit during your walk or walk somewhere. Sometimes I when I want to shop I walk 30 minutes to the mall. Walking is great for your body and your mind. I do powertraining, so lifting, dumbells, etc. I dont do it much, but for me it is a great way to express myself (ROAR!) and to clear my head.

    Even when I was a skinny ass bitch (caused by sickness) I still was seeing that big girl. I was still criticizing my body, what was too skinny. I still felt I had to lose weight. I was using laxatives for years, sometimes so much I was having cold fever caused by losing to much minerals.
    Now I like my curves. For the first time in my life I can enjoy my reflection.

    Please, enjoy food. Food is a happy thing, don’t turn it into something bad. Please eat. Please try to really taste the food. Take time for your food.
    You can eat anything if you eat really slow.
    Importantly.. love yourself. Even if there’s a long road ahead of ya, love yourself. Be thankful. Dream. You know the stuff. Now realise that you are beautiful.

    • Thanks you so much for sharing your experience with dieting etc. Your story really inspired me. I’m currently a bit over weight (still)and still struggling to get rid of those few pounds and my mind can’t cope with the fact how much food is “forbidden” and the lists I make make me more selfconscious and sad than healthy. I’ve decided to ditch all calorie counting and just eat what my body wants/craves. Luckily I hate junkfood, pizza is one exception, but as long as I stay focused my goal is nearer. Like you said-enjoy food, take your time and chose a sport you enjoy so it doesn’t feel like a forceful thing. I realized while reading your post, there isn’t a such thing as forbidden or bad food, just eat less of the less healthy food and exercise to more to create a balance:)

  13. Some of these comments are really dumb. For one, slice of meat is not deli meat. Anybody knows deli meat is full of toxins and if you are on a diet you don’t consume proceed foods. The key is real food. A serving of baked or grilled protein.Secondly, only an idiot drinks a bunch of water then goes straight to bed. Allow your body a time frame of at least an hour after you drink your tea. Come on people, use some sense. This diet plan is not that hard. Also, you are not starving your body because you are eating every 2-3 hours. If you are concerned about losing to many calories due to working out, do a lighter exercise plan.

  15. Day 1 has commenced. I’ve made it through lunch now, and still have my yogurt to go. Menu thus far:

    -Lemon Water
    -6 strawberries, one green apple, one orange, one banana
    -Handful of almonds
    -Bottle of water
    -Shaved deli turkey breast (99% Fat free)
    -Baby carrots
    -2 cups fat-free yogurt

    Not sure how, but I’m surviving and feel fine.

    • Ummm i think the fruit list is an either or choice senario ie 2 apples or 2 oranges or 1 large grapefruit etc… I like many others would have loved this to be real so we could ask a few questions. We eat it as a variation in either or ie 1 apple 1/2 a grapefruit etc… Weve been doing this exactly one week and down 17 pounds between us. I LOVE IT my energys up my cravings are down my hunger is down my bowels are nice sorry but true my blood sugars are down. I use coop brand decafe green tea from my local coop for our tea and we have a 4 oz piece of chicken, be it thigh breast whatever, or a 4oz peice of veal, found at my local hyvee and its fresh. My husband makes a compound wasabi butter, remember its ALL about moderation. i steam a overflowing cup of a mix of fresh green beans and snap pea pods with a tbsp of the wasabi butter in the pan with my meat after i have seard the meat. (this is important- use the FLAT pea pods, the puffy looking ones, sugar snap peas, have HIGH sugar content). I use 2 mini cucumbers from my local coop or walmart depending who has them and have 2 of those with my eggs. We do our eggs however but i mostly do mine hard boiled otherwise i get a craving for bread/toast that is just not worth the stress. My husband uses nothing in his tea i use 1 pyure packet organic non gmo sweetner and one true lemon pack #BREADAHOLIC FYI we use products in this order first NON GMO then organic then local but first we have to be able TO eat so if we can get it it starts with non gmo and THATS a WHOLE different forum.       • Freaking plan is GROSS. I close my eyes and think of sour cream! I just bought a seasoning mix, no calories: garlic powder, onion powder, dill & parsley and it tastes like ranch!

    • I am trying to lose as much weight as possible before my brother’s wedding in two weeks, but am also vegan so I can’t really follow this. Can replace grilled meat with beans but not sure about the yogurt? Two cups of yogurt would sicken me.

      • Hi fellow vegans .. I would sub beans or tofu for meats .. and I would have a dairy free yogurt like coconut/almond or soy milk plain with lunch .. It is definitely do able .. good luck !

      • You do not have to eat the yogurt. Just eat your substitution for the meat and veggies. Sometimes I eat a spring mix salad with balsamic vinegar dressing in place of my vegetables. I have not been following this to a “T” and I have lost 11 pounds over a two week period. You do not have to eat the same thing every time. I am not starving. I believe I haven’t lost a lot because I haven’t been drinking the lemon water or the green tea, but I will be starting to now that I know there is decaffeinated green tea, and I read that to save the enamel on my teeth only use a half of the lemon for an 8 oz glass of water.

I do appreciate how it says this was update in December of 2016, as it is currently May 2016. Someone doing a little time traveling?
    Seriously ladies, just eat well, exercise, and drink a ton of water. You have to make it into a lifestyle and not just a diet. You may drop a few pounds on this diet, but you’ll never keep it off. Unless you’re trying to drop weight for a tape test in the military, this diet isn’t a good idea.

    • My thoughts exactly. Being a college graduate and a using common sense, this has read flags all over it. First off, losing more than 1-2 lbs a week is just unhealthy. The Nutrition this plan suggest is starvation. You are not providing your body with nutrients when you eat close to nothing. And green tea before bed? Insomnia is a top health concern in America and now you want everyone to start seeping 4 bags of green tea before bed? Huh? All you need to be healthy, lose weight, and be happy is to have balance. Balance in nutrition, fitness, and life. Stay away from this diet!

    • Agree all caffeinated drinks should be avoided after 2 . Its not a good advice to take after 2 pm. It will make you stay up all night. You may drink camomile if you aren’t allergic to rag weeds, Also ginger with lemon is good, sleepy near by Celestial Season. Also Melissa officials, lemon balm.. Good luck to all of you. Also drink never drink water while eating. It meses up your food digestion. Best is 30 minutes before or 30 minutes after. Goo luckto all. Also weighted your self only once a week. If you doing everyday you would be discourage. Cause I say it may say you lost one pound and the best day it might say you gain 2 pounds. Again this is normal in the process of lissing weight. Good luck in your journey and do not get discouraged. And remember there is never compare yourself with others. We are all different and some might lose weight faster than others.   17. So this is my first day doing it and so far I drank almost the whole water with lemon. I work today from 2:30-8 so I have to eat before work so I will have my lunch with some seasoned chicken with a little of olive oil and then salad with basalmic vingeratte, I probably won’t do the tea at all, I have tea but not green tea. This sounds a little unrealistic but not impossible guys. I think it’s possible though.

Hydrate with water or coconut water and get your calcium from leafy greens, almond milk or coconut milk.

  21. A pound is 3500 calories, to lose 1 lb in 1 week without exercise, you need to cut out 500 calories per day. To lose 10 pounds in 1 week, you need to burn off an extra 35,000 calories, that means you have to not only severely limit your calorie intake, but you have to burn off an extra 5000 calories per day for the week. Hmmm lets see, spin class is about 600 calories for that hour, so 8 and 1/2 hours of spinning each and every day along with severe cutting of your calorie food intake…
    Anybody see the error in this lose 10 lbs in 1 week idea?

    • I don’t like hard boiled eggs either. I just ate another piece of chicken for dinner with a salad. Not a big piece but I think if you add in a protein of some sort it’s fine. I didn’t lose 10 lbs but still lost weight doing that.

  22. I have lost 7 pounds in a week. Its funny how people in Europe say this, is, too little food to eat blah blah. In Africa this is so much food. If i eat this much my stomach hurts. I rarely eat in the morning not because of any diet. I always think that everything that we are told by nutrition specialists is not always true. One can do the so called fad diets and never regain weight. I believe all diets work but not for everyone. Just look for one that works for you.

  28. I have recently done this diet and lost 8lbs in one week. After the week was finished….I went back to this way of eating for breakfast and lunch ONLY, which is very do-able for me……I eat a regular dinner and am now at 14 lb weight loss. If the scale goes up a pound due to having dessert once in a while, or eating at a buffet…….I go right back to this diet the very next day….and the extra pound or two goes away. I believe this diet is a new way of life for me to drop pounds….the best part is that I am not that hungry at all on the diet, I would just say dinner is monotonous towards mid week…but if you can get thru the first week, and follow what I do after the first week, it’s a nice way to lose weight, I find. I drink my decaf green tea from dinner time to bedtime, many times I finish hours before bedtime. I make iced tea sometimes by adding ice to it and I find it enjoyable drinking it iced. If you need to lose weight…skip all the dumb remarks from everyone in the above comments and JUST DO IT…it works for me. And most times with my lunch, I do have a few slices of cold cuts (turkey breast, etc). Have your lemon juice in the morning..wait a half hour then have your TWO fruits. Works for me! Love it!

Anyone here who wants real information and not untested fad diets can go to Avatar Nutrition. You’ll lose the weight over a longer time frame because it’s unhealthy to lose 10 pounds in one week (and it would leave you with saggy skin). That way you can do it slow and make it sustainable. Also the diet tips are catered to your needs by actual dieticians instead of a one size fits all meme that some self-important fake expert made up in 5 minutes.

    If you manage tgis for a week then u can do the rest of your weightloss healthily as your determination is soooo strong.

  31. So I think saying you can lose 10 lbs is a stretch and may depend on how much you weigh before you try this. I will say I have tried a few quick crash diets and none have worked until I tried this! I think it is actually a pretty healthy and clean diet too. So far I have done it for 4 days and lost 2 lbs.

    I even sneaked in 1/2 a small bar of chocolate for 2 of those days. Also for green tea, I chose a sweet green tea and put 2 pieces of fruit in it to add some sweetness vs adding alot of sugar. For my salads, I like the salad kits you can buy and chose a Southwest Chopped Salad that comes with tortilla chips and creamy cilantro dressing. I don’t use too much dressing but just wanted you guys to know that it’s really not all that terrible! You can make modifications and still lose the weight!

    Even though you are cutting the carbs and it’s less calories than your normal daily amount, I have not felt hungry or like I’m lacking nutrition. And I think like majority of people have said, this is NOT MEANT TO BE LONG TERM so I think it’s fine. I wanted to try this for a week then the next week add in some exercise and more food accordingly. I don’t plan on staying with this but this has helped give me a good framework to keep my diet more clean and healthy vs giving in to those delicious processed food traps or sweet chocolately desires. Also like the person above mentioned, it’s a good way to kickstart your metabolism and a good diet to incorporate here and there when you need to.

    I would definitely do it again in between my normal routine just to shed a few pounds because as many of you guys know, it’s really hard to shed a few pounds for us women in general because of hormones, stress, etc that add to weight gain and make it harder no matter what diet you choose!

  32. For lunch, it calls for 2cups of sour milk or yogurt. Does the yogurt have to be plain or can it be strawberry? I eat the fat free Greek yogurt, it’s hard for me to eat the plain yogurt but I can do half plain and half strawberry if that is ok for this diet.

    • I get the flavored yogurt. If you read the carton there really isn’t a lot of calories or carbs in an 8 oz. carton anyway. 2 cups is 16 oz, so that is 2 8oz pkgs of yogurt. I bought the 6oz. cups of yogurt and I was full. If I even eat the yogurt.

  33. I’m looking at this diet and not seeing starvation at all. And saying that it lacks nutrition? I don’t see that, not in the least. It’s healthier than most people eat on a daily basis. I don’t eat that many green vegetables. I very rarely eat fruit every day. And I don’t eat yogurt unless it’s full of artificial sweeteners and tastes like a dessert! I’m trying this, and if it works, and especially if it works without pain and night time agony, I will try to remember to update. Thank you very much for this.

  34. It’s sort of worked for me with lots of variation. I’ve lost 12 lbs in about a month. 10 oz water with juice of 1/2 organic lemon. Breakfast is 2 servings of fruit, as defined by USDA) and a handful of nuts or seeds or a tablespoon of nut or seed butter. Lunch is usually a salad and about 4 oz meat–the size and thickness of the palm of my hand. Dinner is a traditional dinner with 4 oz or less of meat and lots of non starchy veggies, or a raw vegetable or salad with eggs. Non-caff tea, not green, or water until about 30 min before bed. La Croix water keeps me full. I swap lunch/dinner when having family dinner, but not when I’m dining on my own. I like the simple structure of this diet. No dairy.

  35. Hey wanted to leave some positive feedback. I am on day 5 of this diet and have lost 5 pounds as of this morning. I stuck very closely to the exact diet the first two days then decided that I could make some simple changes that would enable me to enjoy it a bit more. For instance, at lunch, instead of just yogurt I had a tzaiki dip (plain Greek yogurt, grated cucumber, garlic) I found it made a great dipping sauce for my plain grilled chicken and raw veggies. Also at supper instead of the hard boiled eggs and olive oil salad (which i hated) I decided to make scrambled eggs (no milk or cheese) with lightly cooked veggies and a fresh salsa (tomato, red onion, lime, cilantro) all mixed up together. And rather than green tea in the evening I just drank water. I’m not sure how these changes affect the balance the diet but I found it was an easy way to add some flavour to the meals while adhering to the format. Oh and also from day three on, I had a shot of plain espresso after lunch. Trust me, I needed it.
    I think this diet works very well, even without my changes. Thanks so much!!

  36. I’ve been doing Weight Watcher for the past 4 months and have lost 45 pounds but now I’ve hit a plateau. I think I’ve only lost about 2 pounds in the last month. I exercise everyday so right now I am very frustrated. I am going to try this diet in hopes it will break my plateau…we will see. I’m just worried that this is a just another quick-start diet as most folks know we usually lose a lot of water weight in the first 2 weeks of a diet. I want real long term fat loss. This isn’t the type of diet I would follow long term but if it works to break my plateau I will be happy.

  38. People are always looking for the easiest, laziest way out. Don’t expect to lose weight “fast” if you don’t EXERCISE. Seriously, just get off your ass. Time isn’t an excuse either. You work? Okay, walk to work on certain days of the week or take the stairs instead of the elevator every chance you get. Got kids? Take them to the park & play with them rather than sitting on your phone at the bench/go for a walk with your baby in the stroller. Literally just walk around your block for 15 minutes a day! ANYTHING is better than nothing 🙂

The one thing i find interesting is I had Gestation Diabetes when i was pregnant with my son and my nutritionist told me that I could have fruit at any meal (as long as it was within my carb range) EXCEPT breakfast. So it’s interesting to see that fruit is the most effective in the morning.

  42. I did this diet this past week. I felt full during the day but in the night time I did feel a little nudge to eat. I drank the tea as instructed and was able to make it. I lost 10 lbs in a week did not think it was possible but I did it.

    I ate 2 apples and .5 oz of blanched almonds and .5 oz of walnuts for breakfast. Sometimes all at once other times on then the other after an hour or so.

    For lunch I ate 4 oz of chicken breast chopped up with a side of steamed green beans.

    For snack I ate spring mix with tomatoes and oil salt and pepper. I did not always eat the snack though I was not hungry most of the time or just did not have the time within my busy schedule.

    For dinner I had 2 eggs. I found this to not be enough so on day 2 I started adding in egg beaters with my 2 eggs.

    Then I stopped eating by 6pm and drank the tea decaffeinated of course with splenda. I could never drink more than like 10-20 oz though.

    I started at 199.9 and weighed in today at 190.4. I will be doing this for a few more weeks until I hit my goal.

I found this diet program really useful.i combined it with daily cardio high-intense workout and i lost 2 kg in a week.The important thing though is not the number on the scale but how fast my stamina and mood improved.totally worth it.i turned it into lifestyle with some minor changes on the meals.

    • So I stuck to it and lost 7 pounds! I didn’t drink coffee like I said I wouldn’t and it wasn’t as bad as I thought it was gonna be. The first two days was my hardest days and I did have crystal light energy drink once a day in a water also, plus walk the treadmill three of those days for a half hour. I’m 5’2″ and was 145 went down to 138. I hope this helps.

  45. this diet is insane.

    a) this is starvation. that is not enough calories for anyone but a child. your metabolism WILL NOT go up because your body will want to hang out to every bit of fat because it thinks you are starving. because you are.

    b) drinking all that green tea before bed will only keep you awake all night, or at the very least make you not able to go into deep sleep. the body heals itself in sleep, so this is terrible for you.

    c) if you are working out- lifting weights, running- you NEED some carbs to give you energy. i suppose if you sit a desk all day, you can cut carbs completely, but this isn’t something you can do in the long term so it is ridiculous.

    I am in the UK and I have a computer and I am able to research things and make informed decisions.

    I am sure that anyone with half a brain can read through the diet and see you are not starving yourself. All you are doing is detoxing for a week.


    Try it and see. It allows you to eat natural, healthy foods, that contain all the vitamins and minerals you need. Keep it organic and as simple and unprocessed as possible..

    I lost the 10 lb and have not put it on yet!!!

  47. I like the diet but my schedule is a little different than most. I work 12 hr shifts 7am til 7pm. Now my problem is that I’m about 45mins to an hour away so I’m getting home at 8pm or later 4 days out the week. How can I eat at 6pm and not eat again when I’m still working? Also, I don’t like yogurt and don’t drink milk, so?

This diet is dangerous! you cannot cut off from one day to another all carbs, this is unhealthy and could lead to dizziness and faints! furthermore, acids on an empty stomach (lemon, fruit with nothing to limit the acids inside it) can lead to gastric ulcers. besides you should not adopt such a regime for longer than 4 to 6 days, the weight loss here will be mostly liquids and muscle tissue as a drastic shortage of fuel (carbs and other natural sugars) will increase the burning of lean tissue and storage of any microgram of fat found in the meat. You probably will delete this comment but i am a professional and honest dietitian and these things should be said!

  52. After reading through the responses, here are a few tips to avoid confusion…I’m trying the diet too…
    Choose a choice of 2 fruits…mix them up if you so choose with some nuts or almonds. Stay away from fruits the rest of the day.
    As far as the green tea suggestion after 6:00 … it is to keep us from snacking the rest of the evening and to burn calories we ingested early… sip 1 litre (approximately 33 1/2 ounces which = 4 & 1/4 cups) drink that in a 3 hr. period … approximately (10 1/8 oz per hour)…throughout the time period stated. I like both hot and cold green tea…It is warming up so I made green sun-tea and refrigerated it and start sipping it throughout the day. I tend to stay up late so I sip about 3 glasses of it starting around 4:30 – 5:00 pm…till a tad later than suggested…work the menu plan around your specific hours to your schedule. Use your imagination.
    Eat…fish, chicken, pork, veal, turkey, lamb…white meat, ignoring red meat for that week. However they recommend veal or chicken. I’m also doing baked (white mild) fish because it fits in with my family plan.
    Yogurt can replace the sour milk…it was a choice remember between the two or have both…I don’t see why the plain yogurt couldn’t be sweetened with stevia. 2 cups of yogurt is a lot at one sitting so eat what you can or break it up.. It says to have 2 cups of yogurt and or sour milk product…and a salad or green veggies. Why not 1 cup of yogurt, one cup sour milk and a green salad or green vegetable. I like greek yogurt on a bed of fresh leafy greens.
    Instead of meat for lunch you can substitute a few veggies. Choose spaghetti squash or something else like a huge mushroom or even egg plant. There are tons of veggies to choose from.
    I don’t use milk except fat free so sour milk aka buttermilk is out … I will choose greek yogurt, however I’m sure many might like kefir a thick type of milk, very sour, similar to yogurt but thicker somewhat like thick soured cream. Sweeten it with stevia.
    You can choose veggies for a snack or make another nice vegetable salad.
    Dinner is 2 hard boiled eggs with a green (leafy) salad topped with a little olive oil, or cucumbers tossed in olive oil…num!
    Why not add a bit of green beans or a green veggie to a salad like edamame or shredded zucchini…just a few suggestions. Good Luck and enjoy your weight-loss!

  53. Why am I having trouble on this diet? Should I be counting calories on it? There are no real hard fast rules given for many quantities – like howmuch is a “slice” of meat? How much is a “handful” of nuts? Are all types of nuts, including peanuts, allowed?
    How much olive oil on the salads? What vegetables can/cannot be in the salads? Can I use raw apple cider vinegar on the salads? Can I have my black tea in the morning with breakfast? How much and what kind of vegetables at lunch?

  54. A married couple where I work told me about this diet. They lost weight and were very happy. I was excited and looked it up when I got home. But the reason you lose weight is because this is basically a starvation diet. At least you are eating healthy foods, but it’s just low calorie with the added benefit of not eating sugar and refined grains. It’s good to eat a no-sugar, no-refined grains diet, but if you were eating a bigger amount of healthy foods plus no sugar or refined grains, it would be a lifestyle change and you would lose weight as well.

    3rdly – for snack and dinned.. can you add more then a pinch of salt in your salad??

  56. Oh my goodness! After reading about 20 comments on this article, the only thing I have learned is that I need to get off the computer (driven here by my interest in Pinterest) and move my body. The questions people ask are ridiculous! Common sense people!! My suggestion is that you also get off the couch and computer and burn calories by cleaning your house or take the dogs for a long walk.
