Coconut Oil for Hair Conditioning
Because coconut oil helps your hair hydrate, it can be used as a conditioner.
In addition, coconut oil is free of the chemicals that most conditioners have. You can use it for every type of hair.
Now, depending on your hair length, there are different ways to use coconut oil for hair.
Let’s start with short hair, where you need a ¼ teaspoon of coconut oil.
Warm it in your palms, and smooth through your hair.
If you have longer hair, use half a teaspoon of coconut oil.
If you have thinner hair, use coconut oil sparingly.
You can also use coconut oil as an intensive conditioner to restore your hair.
For this treatment, you need 1 teaspoon for short and 2 teaspoons for shoulder length hair, applied directly on your hair after you’ve shampooed your hair.
Apply to the hair shafts and ends, rub it into the scalp, and then cover with a cap. After 2 hours, wash it.
If you hair is damaged and dry, add a couple of drops of sandalwood oil to the mix.
Coconut Oil as a Daily Detangler
Now, I do not have curly hair, but I have friends that do.
And dealing with their tangles is a long, irritating daily battle for them.
That is because they want straight hair. It is up to your preferences.
Some are fans of their curly hair, some want it straight.
Instead of a detangler, you can use coconut oil.
You need two small bowls for this treatment, but with different size.
Add a small dose of coconut oil into the smaller bowl, and fill the larger bowl with how water.
Position the smaller bowl in the bottom of the larger one.
Once the coconut oil is melted, use your fingers to massage it into the ends of your hair.
Work your way towards your roots, and work gently with your tangles using a comb or hair pick.
Once the hair has soaked in the oil, brush it and style it as you want.
Coconut Oil for Hair Dandruff
Another constant struggle for many women (men as well) is dandruff.
There are many natural ways to fight dandruff, and coconut oil is one of the options.
What you want to do is wash your hair with natural shampoo at the end of the day before you go to bed.
Use condition as usual.
Then, you need to prepare the following treatment.
Same as with the coconut oil for dangles, use two small bowls to melt the coconut oil.
Before the coconut oil comes to temperature, remove any tangles from your hair by using comb or hair pick.
Once the oil is melted, gently massage it onto your scalp by using only your fingers.
For those with long hair, the trick is to flip your head upside-down.
Once you are done applying, wrap your head with a towel.
Leave the coconut oil on your hair overnight, a wash it in the morning.
Coconut Oil for Hair Growth
If you are suffering from hair thinning, coconut oil is an affordable and safe solution for your problems.
What you want to do is massage coconut oil into your scalp to improve blood circulation.
You can massage coconut oil on your scalp for 10 minutes.
Repeat the treatment three to four times per week for ideal results.
For the hair growth treatment, you want one teaspoon of coconut oil per treatment.
Remember, after you’ve massaged your hair with coconut oil for 10 minutes, place a shower cap on.
Allow the heat of your scalp to work with the coconut oil.
After several minutes, wash your hair with a cleansing shampoo.
Coconut Oil for Hair Coloring
No, I am not telling you that you can color your hair with coconut oil.
However, you can use the oil as a base for hair coloring.
The reason is simple, coconut oil penetrates your hair deeper and faster than any other natural oil.
The result is your hair color is more vibrant, lively and fades slower.
You need shower cap, comb, coloring herbs, gloves, and two small bowls or this treatment.
As mentioned previously, melt the coconut oil by using the small bowls.
Once melted, mix the coconut oil with the coloring herbs and apply it to your hair as you normally do.
Once you get the color you wanted, wash the hair with lukewarm water to remove the colorant and excess oil.
Wrap the hair with a towel or shower cap and let it stay like that overnight.
Fighting with dangles is not the only way you can style your hair.
Coconut oil can be a good styling asset as it melts on heating and condenses when cooled.
That way, coconut oil spreads evenly on your hair because of the heat of the scalp.
And when you go out and your hair comes in contact with air, coconut oil condenses, working as a cream or styling gel on your hair.
And the best part is coconut oil comes free of dangerous chemicals.
However, as with every styling gel or cream, use it sparingly.
Coconut Oil Protects From Sun Damage
Sun exposure is one of the biggest enemies for your shiny, beautiful hair.
If you want to protect it from the harmful sun rays, coconut oil is a great asset.
As with other treatments on this list, melt it by using two bowls of different size.
When melted, apply the coconut oil on your hair by using your fingers and gently massage it.
Brush and style as normal, and you are ready for the sun.
