Celery is taking over as the king of greens in the past few years, and it is having a moment thanks to the celery juice challenge.

The idea is very simple. All you have to do is drink at least 16 ounces of pure celery juice on an empty stomach for one or two weeks. Some people go for one week, some for two weeks, and others stop in the middle at 10 days. Basically, as long as it takes for your body to start healing, or as long as you can take it.

The idea comes from Anthony Williams, who introduced the practice of drinking celery juice many years ago. He suggested celery juice to people who suffered from auto immune diseases, including psoriasis and eczema.

How to join in?

Millions of people across the globe are joining in on the celery juice challenge. They are all experiencing the benefits of drinking celery juice on an empty stomach. All you have to do is buy huge amounts of celery, and you can start the challenge.

Make sure to wash and cut celery into manageable pieces, and then run it through a juicer. Start by drinking a glass of celery juice in the morning on an empty stomach. Wait 15 minutes before consuming anything else. Drink at least 16 ounces of celery juice for the day, and as you go forward, try to increase it to 24 or 32 ounces per day.

What if I cannot stand the taste of celery juice?

Are there any side effects?

That is why after the two weeks, you can still drink celery juice in the morning, but get your other vegetable servings from other veggies. Mix up the veggies you eat or drink to get more health benefits.

Minimum of five servings of vegetables per day is recommended for adults. That is five cups of veggies per day. Drinking celery juice can help you pack more servings of celery at a time.
