3 Day Juice Diet - What You Need to Know

The 3 day juice diet is a popular way of getting rid of extra pounds in a quick time. Now, while generally consuming fresh vegetables and fruits in juice form is healthy, going on a juice diet for more than 3 days is not recommended. Why? Well, simply because your body needs protein and fats, nutrients you cannot source in large amount of juices. That being said, performing a 3 day juice diet as a cleansing method once every several months is a great way to refresh your body, and get rid of many toxins.
What is the 3 day juice diet?
The simple juice cleanse supports the body’s natural detox processes, and clears your diet of any sugar, caffeine, refined foods, and other foods that can deplete your body of energy.
Raw organic juice is the main component of this diet. If you require more energy, you can include vegan and gluten-free meals and snacks. Of course, that applies to those who want a less extreme experience as well. Before you go through a 3 day juice cleanse, we always recommend to consult with a healthcare professional.
Preparing for the diet
Your body cannot jump right into the cleanse. You have to prepare yourself and your body for a juice diet. It will be a huge shock for your body if you consume unhealthy diet, and then suddenly go on a juice cleanse. That is a stress to your body you want to avoid.
Instead, we recommend simplifying your diet and preparing yourself for a cleanse for a few days before the actual diet. In the days leading up to your 3 day diet plan, remove any meat, processed foods, alcohol, caffeine, and similar stimulants of your diet. In the same time, increase the intake of vegetable soups, fresh fruits, nuts, salads, whole grains, and herbal teas.
How to go through the juice detox diet?
The 3 day juice diet requires you to drink at least 32 ounces of juice or smoothies per day. Half of that should be green vegetable juice. In addition to drinking juice, you need to consume 3 litters of water as well. Your juice should come of organic and fresh fruits and vegetables. The program is 6 juice servings per day, out of which five are juices, and 1 is nut milk. Start your day with a glass of warm water and lemon juice.
You need to drink one juice every 3 hours, and depending on your waking up and sleep schedule, it should be something like this.
- 8am, a glass of warm water with lemon juice
- 9am, one glass of smoothie
- 11-11:30am, one glass of fresh juice
- 2pm, a glass of fresh juice
- 5pm, a glass of fresh juice
- 8pm, a glass of nut milk
Between each juice or meal, you can consume a glass of room temperature water to further promote detoxification and elimination of toxins. Drink the juice slowly instead of gulping it down for better nutrient absorption. The last drink of nut milk should be 3 hours before going to bed.
If your day is busy, and you need to make a larger batch of juice, make sure to store it in covered glass or BPA-free cups or bottles in your fridge. If you are hit by a hunger craving, get a small snack like fresh carrots, celery, or a piece of fruit.
When to get back to normal food?
Once you are done with the 3 day juice diet, you can get back to normal food. However, do not rush it back. Food is usually reintroduced into the diet over several days. During the 3 day cleanse, we recommend you avoid exercising. However, a light walking can help boost blood circulation

Many people think of the 3 day juice diet as a weight loss diet. And while the detox cleanse can help you shed some pounds, the goal originally is to get rid of toxins and pollutants, and rejuvenate your liver and other organs that work in the detoxification of the body process.
