Why Drink Water? Top 7 Reasons Water is Essential Part of Our Life

We cannot survive without water. The human body can go on without food for as long as three weeks. But without water? We might be done after two or three days. Water makes up a majority of our body weight, and it is involved in so many different processes in our body. Without water, our body cannot function properly.

With that in mind, why should you drink water on a daily basis? And how much water do you need? Well, for the second question, the age-old rule is eight glasses of water. As for why? Here are 7 reasons.

Hydration

Our body is made of between 60% and 70% water. Water helps our body hydrate. Water is the main source of hydration. Without it, you might suffer of dehydration, which causes joint and muscle pain, but also makes your skin looks dry. And your mouth will be dry, your eyes will be dry, and you can notice a lot more symptoms of dehydration.

Beautiful skin

We touched a bit on the dry skin part, but let’s talk more. The skin needs a lot of hydration. For starters, your skin produces oil, which helps it moisturize from the outside. But from the inside? Your skin needs a lot of hydration. When your liquids are down, your skin might lose the protective barrier, get dry, and crack. More importantly, the skin is prone to injuries when dehydrated. And if you didn’t know, the skin is the largest organ in the body.

Improve Digestion

Water improves digestion of your body. How? Well, water helps your body flush out toxins, and digest foods easily .Without water, your body cannot break down food to tiny molecules. And if you do not drink enough water, what comes is constipation. You definitely do not want to feel constipated. Regular bowel movements are crucial for overall health, and they depend on water.

Prevent hunger pains

In a lot of cases, when you feel hungry, you might be feeling thirsty instead. Sometimes, when you are hungry, your body needs water more than it needs food. When your body doesn’t get enough water, it is sending mixed signals. For example, you might be craving unhealthy foods. And you can prevent all of that by drinking enough water.

Prevent fatigue

How many times have you felt tired? Fatigued? Exhausted? Like you cannot do anything more. Well, chances are, you might have been just lacking water. Dehydration will make you feel fatigued instantly. When dehydrated, your body works on low settings, resulting in fatigue and tiredness. Even worse, when you are fatigued, your body is prone to diseases and health issues. Fatigue often can lead to common cold, viruses, bacteria, and more. Simply put, your immune system is weak when you feel fatigued.

Prevent dizziness

You cannot stay sharp and focused if you do not drink water. As simply as that. You can get your water sourced from other places, like fruits, vegetables, fresh juices, yogurt, and so on. But you just have to feel hydrated if you want to feel sharp. If not, you will feel dizzy, and might even faint. There is a reason why marathon athletes drink water all the time while they run.

Joint health

We talked about how our body is mostly made of water. Well, the joints are made of even more water. In fact, they are made of 80% water. Drinking water will relieve joint pain, and ensure you do not feel pain anywhere in the body. If you feel pain, just get a glass of water to get back to normal.
