10 Meditation Tips for Busy Moms

Because it’s hard to catch your breath when you have kids, meditating is a great way to take a moment for yourself. By breathing and thinking more mindfully, you can put aside time every day to take care of yourself while training your mind and improving your consciousness. Here are ten meditation tips that will help busy moms take the edge off.

peaceful mom with crazy kids

1. Make Time for Yourself Carve out a few minutes every day from your busy schedule to make meditation a part of your daily routine. You’ll have more energy and feel happier when you prioritize yourself.

2. Find Your Meditation Leader   Whether you turn to YouTube, podcasts or audiobooks, guidance gives your meditation session more direction and purpose.

3. Turn up Your Music  Put your headphones in, turn up your music and tune out the world. Focus on the steady beats and flowing melodies to unplug from your surroundings.

4. Focus on Breathing  Sit comfortably, close your eyes and focus on breathing in through the nose out through the mouth. Watch your chest rise and fall and make sure to check in on your breathing throughout the day.

5. Meditate When You’re Tired The meditative state relieves stress and offers an energy boost, making it a peaceful way to feel awake and refreshed.

6. Decide on a Personal Space You need space to meditate just as much as you need time, so find a quiet place you can make your own. Once you have a space to yourself, you can take in the sensations around you and develop your skills.

7. Start and End Your Day with Meditation Practice meditation before your kids wake up to feel refreshed before your day officially starts. If you meditate before bed as well, you’ll sleep more deeply at night.

8. Mix Meditation in with Your Workouts Adding meditation to physical activity is a great way to keep healthy. By making meditation a part of a healthy lifestyle, you can exercise your body and your mind.

9. Integrate Meditation into Your Everyday Routine You don’t have to sit and meditate, you can do it while you’re walking, driving or cooking. As long as you’re being mindful, you’ll reap the benefits from focusing on feelings and sensations throughout your day.

10.  Aim for Short Meditation Sessions There’s no set amount of time required to meditate, so, if you’re pressed for time, you can squeeze in short meditation sessions here and there to put your mind at ease anytime and anywhere. Meditation is great for any mother in need of energy and relaxation.
