Let me start by saying that I’ve been there, and I know your pain.
For years, I’ve battled sciatica. That being said, I know the constant feeling of pinpricks in your heels.
The pain that goes from your butt to your feet. Plus, the shockwaves that are constantly firing into your nerves. But, what I can tell you is that there is light at the end of the tunnel.
Sciatica pain can control your life. I know it has controlled mine for quite some time. I’ve tried several treatments.
From standard medical treatment to some alternative treatments (massages, chiropractors, etc…). What I’ve come to understand is that there is no quick and short term solution for sciatica pain.
If you want to get rid of debilitating pains caused by sciatica, there is only a long-term solution.
Chronic sciatica can force you to sit down at times, or even cause you problems while you are sitting. And it is a frustrating condition to cure.
The good news is that even though that sciatica is extremely painful, in most case, the sciatic nerve is not permanently damaged.
What that means is that with effort and work, you can cure or reduce the symptoms to a manageable condition.
Why You Should Forget About Conventional Sciatica Treatments
If you are experiencing sciatica pain, the first thing your doctor will recommend is pain-killers.
Now, do not get me wrong, they will help you immediately as they will relieve you from pain and decrease inflammation. However, they are not a long-term solution.
Pain-killers never solve the real cause of the problem, as they are not focusing on the source and root of the problem, rather the cause.
If you are suffering from compressed nerve (herniated disc), pain-killers will only hide the pain for a moment. But, once their effect expires, you are back to square one.
Therefore, taking pain-killers might be a momentary solution, but do not expect to get better just by taking pills. After all, you cannot live your entire life with pain-killers.
Can Chiropractors Eliminate Sciatic Pain?
Chiropractors and chiropractic treatments are just a short-term approach.
I must admit, they help, and the next few days after you’ve visited the chiropractor, you will feel pain-free and relieved. But three or four days after, and the pain will be back.
Now, if you have money and you are willing to go to the chiropractor every two or three days, be my guest.
However, be warned, that not every chiropractor is good for you. What is worse is that chiropractic treatments can sometimes be counter-effective.
What happens is that a sciatic manipulation by the chiropractor can result in losing functions in your lower back.
What Can You Do?
Now, this brings us to the answer of the question, what can you do to get rid of sciatica pain, once and for all.
Think of getting rid of sciatica pain as a losing weight process. As you probably know, there is no magic pill for losing weight.
There is no magic pill for curing sciatica pain as well.
What you need to do is strengthen your muscles on your back, and work out to get in physically fit shape.
What you want to target are your lower back muscles. There are countless of exercises for lower back muscles, and the good news is, you can do most of them at home.
Another thing you should really consider is yoga. Stretches in yoga are one of the best alternative treatment for sciatica pain.
However, make sure to consult with your yoga trainer, and tell him your condition. Not all yoga stretches are designed to help people with sciatica pain.
I’ve had an experience where I took a yoga class, and the trainer told me after the class that I am not fit for the group. His reason was simple.
My condition requires specially designed program that will target the muscles in my lower back and relieve me from pain.
She told me that sometimes, some yoga stretches can be counter-productive for me, and even worsen my condition.
With that in mind, if you want to try yoga, make sure that you look for a class for people with sciatica pain.
